The Value of a Smile at Christmas - Dale Carnegie

I love this poem and want to share it with those of you who may not have read it.

It costs nothing, but creates much.

It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give.It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None are so rich they can get along without it, and none so poor but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends. It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and Nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is given away. And if in the last-minute rush of Christmas buying some of our salespeople should be too tired to give you a smile, may we ask you to leave one of yours?
For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give!"

What's Happening Las Vegas

Right now Las Vegas is an exciting place to live. We have so much going on in this city it’s hard to imagine the growth! If you’re traveling along the strip there are construction cranes absolutely everywhere!

The fascinating tower of the Wynn Las Vegas hotel is under construction.

In addition to the beautiful Wynn, the
Venetian hotel is under going an enormous expansion.

Developer,
MGM Mirage, continues with their unbelievable project on the strip which will be our fantastic City Center. In June Jim took clients to tour the beautiful Panorama Towers and when we looked down into an enormous hole in the ground that will soon be City Center, it was hard to believe that the project would be completed in November 2009. Now every time I drive down the strip between Bellagio and the Monte Carlo something has changed. Construction crews work round the clock. City Center will be a world within it’s self with shopping, casinos and hotels. This 76- acre complex with a cost of about $7-8 billion is going to be a city-within-a-city. It will be like a small self contained city.

They have lots of great restaurants and entertainment to dazzel you. If you check out the discounts area, you'll see some fantastic deals they are offering locals or visitors to the city like a free round trip airline ticket for booking a hotel room for two nights!

Click here for the link to their website home page which lists the deals they are offering along with the restaurants and entertainment schedule.

This is a such a wonderful place to live because things are changing constantly. Keeps us on our toes and young!

Didn't make it to the early morning action of the New Frontier, well thank goodness for Diane and her crew on GMA.

Want more of the details on the festival activities or an application?
Visit their website by

The District is a nice shopping area in Henderson that is located by Green Valley Ranch. I personally enjoy their events because it's fun watching young children enjoy the music and activities. They have two separate areas where they play music or movies children and adults enjoy together. They also have a cute shuttle bus that is free if you don't want to walk across the street and want to give the kids a thrill. Well if you like to shop, there are some very nice stores like Williams Sonoma and Chicos and many others listed here.

Don't like shopping, they have Green Valley Ranch Hotel & Casino and plenty of restaurants like PF Changs and Elephant Bar!

Sorry for the delay on my blog but we just got back from a great vacation with our mom's in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

Jim and I went to see the Soprano's Last Supper Comedy Show last night. It was fun and similar to Tony and Tina's Wedding dinner show, without the full meal deal, although they did provide a pasta plate snack. We always have fun at whatever we do, especially when we are with our good friend Jack Sharp. I'll have to admit that watching my eighty year old mother-in-law dance with a hit man, along with seeing Jim perform on stage with some tallented young ladies made my night!

As usual, my tickets were free but if you pay they're $69.00 per person. The show is located at the Empire Ballroom which is located next to the MGM and behind Walgreens. Parking is a piece of cake. Interested in checking out this show? click here.

Free & Fun Things To Do in Las Vegas!

If you looking for something to do FREE in Las Vegas? If you have children to entertain, you might want to try out the live circus acts at Circus Circus that are performed daily. If that sounds fun, you might want to combine the live exotic birds at Mandalay Bay, located next to the registration desk.

A nice walk through the cactus gardens followed by a tour of Ethel M's chocolate factory can be a fun outing for visitors. Not only do you get to see the workers making the candy, you always get a yummy sample of the candy.

My favorite place to take our visitors is to see The Beautiful Fountains of Bellagio. If you haven't seen the fantastic fountains that dance to a nightly selection of music, you haven't seen Las Vegas! You might want to check the schedule first with Bellagio staff so you can coordinate it with your timing of dinner. The dinner is far from being free, but sitting in front of one of the many nearby restaurants while listening to the music of the Bellagio waters is something that can't be matched.

They have a spectacular light show everynight at the Freemont Street Experience in the older and nostalgic area of Las Vegas. If you enjoy light shows, they also have a really cute water lazer show at Sam's Town at their Mystic Falls Indoor Park.

MGM Grand offers the kids a thrill around 3:00 in the afternoon when they feed the lion housed in a glass enclosure. It's not free, but MGM's Adventure Theme Park has great rides, shows and characters.

Now if you're willing to spend a little money and want to have some adventure, try one of the many fantastic roller coasters on the strip. New York New York has the Manhattan Express roller coaster Jim and I had a blast on. That was the last time I think I saw Jim on a coaster. They have several scarry rides at the Stratosphere. If your're not zooming to the top on one of these rides, you dangling over the side, which can be only for the fearless at heart. My favorite is the Sahara coaster because it takes off like a rocket. They also offer a great deal if you want to ride it over and over again. I made it to number six after testing every section to see where we could get the best thrill!

If you going with your sweetie, you might want to hit the Venetian's gondola rides along the Grand cannal.

Mandalay Bay has a 1.3 million gallon seawater aquarium called the Shark Reef that is quite interesting for adults as well as the kids.

Although we are no longer able to have the privilege of seeing the great Sigfried and Roy, we can still enjoy the rare annimals including the white lions with admittance to the dolphin habitat at the Mirage Hotel /Casino.

Riding to the top of the Stratosphere, the tallest observation tower, or to the top of Paris is always a fun way to view the city, especially at night.

Jim Rocks out at Sterling Club

Jim and Judy rocking out last week with the music of Gayle Steele at the Sterling Club!

Wed night of this week Jim and I will be again enjoying the talented Saundra Benton, who will be performing at the Sterling Club in the fantastic Turnberry Towers! Saundra performs nightly at the Hilton's "Menapause The Musical". If you haven't seen this show you should because it's a real hoot! You don't have to be middle-aged and female to see it as one of the funniest shows you've ever seen. I went the first time with a group of my girl friends, but Jim and I went with a mixed group and he was in stitches the entire time.

Gayle Steele sang last week and dazzled the crowd with her solos and fantastic duet with hubby Tommy Steele, who plays almost every instrument in the band.

Recently we were able to listen to Skye Miles who also stars in Menapause. Both of these gals are incredibly talented with phenonmenal voices and personalities that match their talent. When you have the opportunity to see them sing off stage it's a real treat. Not only are you able to hear them, but you are also able to get a taste of some of the other talents in this wonderful town. They always share the microphone with the many talented performers who come to support them.

Bonnie Springs Ranch at "One Gunfighter Lane"

Need something fun to do in the Valley? Go to Bonnie Springs Ranch!

Make sure you go on the weekend if you want the kids to be able to ride the train!

Don't worry, the kids will be safe, they took this wolf photo for us!

Fun if you are visiting or if you live in the Las Vegas Valley!

Enjoy a western style ranch, lodging, lunch in the saloon, a free petting zoo, kids train rides, shoot outs & melodramas, horse back riding and plenty of fun for everyone!

The kids can touch almost all the animals.

Even your youngest won't be frightened to touch :)

There are so many animals in a wonderful environment and they can feed many of them!

Want to take your kids or grandkids to a fun place only minutes from the strip? Try Bonnie Springs Ranch which is located off Blue Diamond Hwy by Red Rock Canyon? If you are just visiting and don’t have a car, they have shuttle services from the strip.

Your kids will enjoy walking back into the old Wild West with their daily melodramas & shoot outs. We took the girls during last week and they had a ball. It’s only $20.00 a car and they give you a $10.00 credit for food in the saloon for lunch or snacks. They have horse back riding and a darling free petting zoo that the kids and you will never forget!

If you really want some adventure, you can stay in the motel with rooms decorated in western style. The people who run this are really charming! They also give discounts to locals. I’ve always thought it would be fun to reserve the chapel for an anniversary party. Better yet, reserve the entire town if you are looking for a place to have a party for a large group.

If you want to check things out for yourself, you can call 1-(702) 875-4191 between 8:00 & 5:00 seven days a week.

Fifth Annual Golden Egg Hunt a Success!

Bridgette loves Easter too:)

Yes, we do have real grass and bunnies in Las Vegas. This is the bunny who lives in our very own yard! He actually visited our Miss Golda next door on Easter :)

Golden Easter Egg Hunt proves to be great fun for all!

We had a great time at the Golden Easter Egg Hunt with our four grand daughters on Saturday. They really went all out to make sure the children attending this function had a good time. Our youngest grand daughter, Maria was shocked when she won a free basket with goodies like plastic play high heels. The article in the Review Journal describing some sore planner fingers was evident when I saw the millions of stuffed candy eggs on the elementary school field!

If you didn't get a chance to attend one of the various Easter Egg Hunts in the Las Vegas Valley, try to catch one next year because it was really worth it seeing the kids have so much fun!
